Boone Masons travel to Canada for Drystone Workshop

After 3 1/2 weeks of living on the road, we returned safely yesterday afternoon. We have seen amazing sights, met wonderful people everywhere, and most importantly, honed our drystone skills in anticipation of the upcoming DSWA certification as part of the Asheville Stone Symposium in September.

We couldnt resist building this arch after a hike up Fox Island.

Construction of this 5' high "cheek end" was my main accomplishment of the workshop.

Group photo on our final day. Our workshop was followed by a two day walling workshop which built on what we did to create a section of stone maze to be used as a model for construction of a massive drystone maze near town.

Part of the workshop was creating an ephemeral piece of environmental art.
